Created during an immense frustration with the lack of empathy and humanity that black people face in America, this painting was the emotional turmoil that followed the murder of George Floyd. Red, white, and blue have a different meaning for Black people in America. It’s the colors of the police sirens, the color of blood, depression, and fallen angels. All of this is covered by a figure colored in white to represent the chalk lines one will see at a crime scene. No identity, just another victim taken by police.

The Black Woman’s Three Wise Monkeys analyzes the position black women have in American society. Black women are expected to be the backbone of the black community and the glue that holds American culture and society together. We are to do the work but not speak, be seen or be heard.
